The Space
A 16 acre private island in the Southern Great Barrier Reef, accessible by a 30 minute boat transfer from the Capricorn Coast. Cast Away offers something genuinely rare; complete exclusivity over an entire island, with no public access during bookings and a diversity of natural environments that can be reached within minutes of each other on foot.
The island's landscapes shift across a compact 6.1 hectare footprint: white sandy coves, granite headlands, rugged rocky coastlines, native bushland and open ocean horizons. Sunrise and sunset positions are available from multiple vantage points, and the surrounding reef adds underwater and above water shooting environments to the range. Native wildlife, dramatic rock formations, tropical vegetation and turquoise lagoons complete a location that can credibly double as several distinct tropical destinations within a single booking.
Beachfront cottages built into the natural landscape provide on site accommodation for cast and crew; sustainably designed and finished with an authentic Australian coastal character that works as a shooting environment in its own right. The island accommodates up to 34 guests overnight across existing cottage accommodation, with day visits comfortably supporting up to 100 people on site at one time. The dedicated island vessel carries 36 passengers per transfer, with larger vessels available from Keppel Bay for bigger crew movements.
The island is available for day hire at $3,000 per day, with overnight exclusive use rates available depending on cottage requirements. Rockhampton and Gladstone airports both service the region, keeping access practical despite the remote feel of the location.
Cast Away has previously hosted photography stills, TVC and video productions and events and activations. The island's compact size, complete privacy and range of natural environments make it equally well suited to feature film and television, with the operational infrastructure to support multi-day shoots without relocating.
