Private Home
Nio House
Stirling, SA, Australia
The Space
Set within the tranquil Adelaide Hills, Nio House is a contemporary retreat that seamlessly blends architecture with landscape. Referencing the region’s traditional hillside homes through pitched iron roofs and locally sourced stone, the design feels both grounded and timeless.
Sustainability and environmental sensitivity guide the form. The home is oriented east–west to maximise northern light, enhance passive solar performance, and create a warm, inviting interior throughout the cooler months. Inside, a restrained palette of Tasmanian Oak, dark burnished concrete and Basket Range stone adds depth, texture, and a sophisticated yet understated atmosphere.
A glazed entry corridor leads down to the main pavilion, where a generous open plan living, dining and kitchen zone offers a versatile backdrop for film and photography. A mezzanine overlooks the pavilion, adding functional shooting opportunities and cinematic sight lines.
Currently part of the National Architectural Awards program, Nio House is an exceptional choice for productions seeking a quiet, design led setting with a strong connection to nature. Its calm ambience, thoughtful detailing, and sustainable footprint make it ideal for lifestyle campaigns, editorial work, and architectural storytelling.
