Private Home
Wentworth
South Hobart, TAS, Australia
The Space
Wentworth is a circa 1910 five room cottage in South Hobart, extended with a double storey addition by Studio Ilk that opens into a combined living, dining, and kitchen space with 6 metre cathedral ceilings. High level window apertures on the northern side flood the addition with light, offsetting the site's south facing orientation.
The original cottage and new addition are clearly delineated through floor level changes and material shifts, with spotted gum timber cladding used both inside and out. A former shed on the western side of the block has been converted into a separate studio space, bookending the property alongside the cottage and extension.
The home opens directly onto a rear garden via level access, with continuous indoor-outdoor flooring and integrated landscape seating. The layout and northern light make it a strong fit for TVC and photography work requiring bright, functional interiors with a direct garden connection.
